PSNC’s new TOP500 Supercomputer considered for heat re-use is up and running

Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) as a partner of the Warta Campus pilot within the RENergetic project has started collecting and processing the data from the new Altair supercomputer. Altair is on the lists of TOP500 and Green500 of the fastest and the most energy-efficient supercomputers in the world, respectively. The Altair directly liquid-cooling (DLC) system is considered within the project in the heat reuse perspective as a source of heat for the campus of Poznan University of Technology and the district heating system operator Veolia. The data collected from the supercomputer will allow us to model, analyse, and predict potential energy and CO2 savings achieved thanks to the use of waste heat from the data center.
