Today was an important milestone for renewable energy in general and energy communities in particular in Austria. The new “Renewables Development Act” has been passed in the parliament, taking the necessary 2/3-majority hurdle! It is the most ambitious infrastructure act in Austria since many years (maybe ever). It sets the way for Austria to have 100% of its electricity demand supplied by renewables by 2030. It also includes the legal framework for Energy Communities, that will allow for a regional, decentralized and sustainable energy supply!
